New Horizon School

New Horizon School provided both summer school and summer camps again this year.  44 students attended, making this our largest summer program ever!  The summer school theme this year was “Heroes On Earth”, and students learned about math, reading, writing, and teambuilding skills through the elements of “Fire, Water, Earth, Wind”.  Activities included making kites and flying them, pedal boating, glass blowing, and visiting a working urban farm.  Summer camps were very popular as well, and included STEAM education topics such as robotics, 3-D printing, archery ballistics, fabrication arts, and criminal science investigation.

Truffle Hunt

Four adults will join Oregon Truffle Feasts’ author, Dawn Meiklejohn, and her dog, Lidia on a two hour truffle foray through the woods (approximately one hour drive from Seattle) to find our native truffles, followed by a tailgate picnic of truffle infused food and drink.  Participants will learn about Pacific Northwest Truffles, why dogs are used to forage, how Lidia was trained, how foods are infused and will take home a copy of Oregon Truffle Feasts.  Adults only.  Limited to four.  Foray needs to be during truffle season (weather dependent, usually November to April) at a mutually convenient time.  Expires:  June, 2019
