2024 Summer School

2024 Summer School was busy with academics and field trips.  Students were working on the theme of the Summer Olympics (which was awesome!). There were torches made, medals made, and studies on the original Olympics set forth and what changes were made for these past Olympics. In Physical Education, students learned a fairly new game, Pickleball (it’s all the rage right now!), along with trying out Archery – thank you to Timm Hines for guiding us on that one!)  Field trips were on the Cedar River Trail, TopGolf (thank you to TopGolf for so much fun!) MOHAI (thank you to MOHAI for some very interesting museum pieces to investigate like the Legos exhibit!) and lastly, our own Transition Extension (THRIVE) planned and executed New Horizon School Summer Olympics!  Awards were given out and celebrations were enjoyed. Thank you to the THRIVE team!

Our THRIVE group spent lots of time working on various activities at LifeLong, shopping for groceries for lunch, bringing our staff Starbucks orders (that included collecting money and making change!) and learning how to plan, organize and execute activities for not only themselves, but for others.  Nice work everyone!
